One family has made this basic chair in Costa Rica for five generations. Each chair seems to have its own warm personality with distress markings in the leather and slight variations in the wood grain. The leather deepens in color and richness with air, light, time and after each use. The woods used in the chairs are a combination of two tropical hardwoods called Guanacaste and Caebilla, both in the Mahogany family. These woods are finished with a beeswax satin finish (Briwax).

The chairs we carry are the original folding rocking chair. They are shipped fully assembled. Also, unlike other chairs with a shiny or gloss finish that will chip away, La Vida Verde uses a lacquer sealer from England. Other companies use hardware that is silver and painted gold and the staples are exposed on the back of the chair leather, while our hardware is plated antique brass and the staples are covered with US made solid brass upholstery tacks.

A percentage of each chair sold is reserved to replant reforested lands with native hardwoods.
